PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game machine with variable prize winning equipment containing a hole for a special prize winning, wherein the tempo of playing progress, which has to do with detection of winning over the special prize winning hole, becomes optimum in response to a situation. SOLUTION: Of a valid duration for prize winning detection of a special prize winning hole, the length of the remaining valid duration after variable prize winning equipment returns from an open state to a closed state is changed according to a playing state. For example, the length of the remaining valid duration in a starting playing state is set relatively short and that in a jackpot playing state is set relatively long.
