PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of weatherability and coating quality on the outer surface side of a thick wall part caused by the falling of a powder coating in an electrocoating process in the coating method of a car body including a powder coating process of the car body after coating pre-treatment, a heat melting process, an electrocoating process, and a heat curing process. SOLUTION: The outer surface of the thick wall part 1b which is a part of the car body 1 is masked with a masking material 4 before the powder coating process, the masking material 4 is removed between the heat melting process and the electrocoating process, after the heat curing process, a heat- cured coating film 82 produced in the heat curing process on the outer surface side of the thick wall part 1b is coated with an intermediate coating, and after the intermediate coating, the whole outer surface of the car body 1 is coated with a finish coating.
