PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating composition capable of providing a coated product excellent in warm water resistance, and having weather resistance and light resistance hardly reduced even when a vapor deposited film of an inorganic oxide (a reflection-preventing film or the like) is applied on the coated product, and further to provide an optical member. SOLUTION: This coating composition contains (A) a component of a silicon- containing material and (B) a component of modified metal oxide colloidal particles comprising (c) particles obtained by coating the surfaces of (a) colloidal particles of a metal oxide having 2-60 nm primary particle diameters as nuclears with (b) a coating material comprising colloidal particles of an acidic oxide, and having 2-100 nm primary particle diameters. The optical member has a hardened film formed out of the coating composition on the surface of an optical substrate. |
