PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cellulose ester film never deteriorating the durability of a polarizing plate even if used as a protective thin film therefor, to obtain a protective film for polarizing plates by using the above film, and to obtain a member for liquid crystal displays by using the above film. SOLUTION: This cellulose ester film is such as to be 20-65 μm in thickness and 1.0-4.5 wt.% in water absorption when immersed in water at 23 deg.C for 24 h.
