PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily set strength distribution in a left half part and a right half part of a swing arm for a motorcycle having left and right arm members each composed of a pipe member and welded to a front cross member composed of a cast-metal member. SOLUTION: In the right half part of this swing arm A requiring strength because tension of a chain 38 driving rear wheel WR directly acts on the right half part, the front end face of the right arm member 28 is joined to a rear part of the front cross member 26 by welding We, Wf. In the left half part of the swing arm A not requiring large strength but to be lightened, a front side face of the left arm member 27 is joined to a side face of the front cross member 26 by welding Wa, Wb. Thereby, the strength distribution in the left half part and the right half part of the swing arm A can be easily set according to need, and unnecessary increase in weight caused by excessive strength can be avoided.
