PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high speed printing without deteriorating printing quality in an electrostatic ink jet recorder. SOLUTION: This ink jet recorder comprises a slit head 201 having a slit ejection hole 205 which is formed of a lower substrate 203 and an upper substrate 202 and allows ink 208 to be ejected therethrough, a plurality of first ejection electrodes 1 and second ejection electrodes 2 disposed so as to be extended from the slit ejection hole 205 to the inside of the lower substrate 203 and upper substrate 202, and an opposing electrode which is disposed at a predetermined distance from the tip section of the slit head 201 in opposition to the first and second ejection electrodes 1, 2. Alternating electric fields are generated across the first ejection electrodes 1 and second ejection electrodes 2 and coloring particles 213 are aggregated to one set of the ejection electrodes 1 (2). After that, the ink 208 is allowed to fly toward the opposing electrode from the slit ejection hole 205 by the electric field between the ejection electrodes 1 (2) and opposing electrode.
