PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recombinant protein which is soluble and active and has an improved citric acid lyase activity. SOLUTION: This method for producing a protein having a citric acid lyase activity comprises expressing a proper plasmid in a host organism and then isolating the protein. Therein, the plasmid contains an inducing promoter and information originated from a gene cluster comprising at least six kinds of genes.
