PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silent chain with a roller and a transmission device therefor capable of freely designing a layout of a chain line capable of transmitting multishaft motive power to an auxiliary machine by a single chain and capable of surely meshing with each other without disengagement of meshing even when a chain winding angle is small to a sprocket. SOLUTION: In this slient chain for endlessly forming a large number of inner plates 1 having a pair of front/rear link teeth 1a and pin holes 1b and a guide plate 2 having a pair of pin holes 2a by sandwiching the inner plates 1 by a connecting pin 3, a roller 4 having an outer diameter 4a realized in the contour of the link teeth 1a is rotatably fitted to and inserted into a position inside of a guide plate sandwiching position of the connecting pin 3 to expand a degree of freedom of a chain winding layoutα, and the slient chain can be surely meshed with each other without disengagement of meshing.
