PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for forming a sheet of a fiber formed product by which a raw material for the fiber formed product capable of affording the formed product having an ultrahigh mechanical strength by finally carrying heat treatment at a high temperature can be obtained. SOLUTION: This apparatus 1 for forming the sheet capable of carrying out the method for forming the sheet of the fiber formed product comprises a water storage tank 15 having many drain holes 16 formed in a base 15a and storing dispersion water DW in which heat-resistant fibers are dispersed, an opening and closing valve 17 for closing the drain holes 16 of the water storage tank 15, opening the draining holes 16 at the same time and releasing the dispersion water DW, sheet forming tanks 25 and 32 arranged in separated positions under the water storage tank 15 and capable of receiving the dispersion water DW dropped from the water storage tank 15, a draining means 34 provided at the bottom of the sheet forming tank 32 and capable of draining water in the sheet forming tank 25, and a wire cloth 29 installed between both the sheet forming tanks 25 and 32 and capable of forming the sheet of heat-resistant fibers by draining water with the draining means 34.
