PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an edge of a loaded sheet of paper from curling up or separating from a separating claw caused by contact of the sheet with a paper feeding roller in mounting a paper feeding cassette, regardless of warp or corrugation of the loaded sheet caused by temperature or humidity, for effectively stabilizing the feeding performance of a paper feeding device. SOLUTION: This paper feeding device is provided with a paper feeding cassette 103, detachable in the direction of carrying a sheet of paper, for holding sheets of paper 111 and a paper feeding 112e for feeding the sheets of paper 111 one by one from the top. Both side surfaces of the paper feeding cassette 103 are formed with rails 201d and 201e extending along the direction of carrying a sheet of paper. The paper feeding device is formed with a cassette support plane 101q for guiding and supporting the lower face of the rails 201d and 201e when attaching or removing the cassette 103. Near and opposed to the paper feeding roller 112e, the cassette support plane 101q is formed with a guide face 101x for guiding the paper feeding cassette 103 downward.
