According to the invention, angular chips (5) of foamed plastic, for example, expandable polystyrene, having pores on their surface which are closed on all sides, are arranged adjacent to one another either loosely or are bound superficially by a coating of binding agents or similar, preserving any continuous intermediate spaces between the chips. In this way, the material thus produced exhibits a permeability to vapour which is practically independent of its thermal insulation properties. |
