PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a primer or a probe for a bacterium belonging to the genus Ruminococcus having a base sequence selected from sequence Nos. 1-18 and a sequence complementary to the base sequence and to provide a method for identifying and detecting the species of the bacterium belonging to the genus Ruminococcus using the primer. SOLUTION: The identification and detection of the species of the bacterium belonging to the genus Ruminococcus can rapidly and simply be carried out without requiring culturing of the bacterium.
