PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrolytic copper foil which is excellent in mechanical characteristic (more particularly tensile strength and folding endurance at ordinary temperature) and is small in the surface roughness of a rough surface and a method for manufacturing the same relating to the electrolytic copper foil which allows the implementation of continuous operation under high-current density and the method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The electrolytic copper foil which is excellent in all of excellent mechanical characteristics, electrical characteristics and surface roughness and is formed by specifying the content of SN in the electrolytic copper foil to 1 to 100 ppm, incorporating at least >=1 kind of elements selected from Pb, Zn, Ni, Co and Cr as side components at need therein at 1 to 200 ppm in total, adding chlorine ions, gelatin, active sulfur-containing component and oxyethylene surfactant into an acidic copper electrolytic bath and subjecting the copper foil to an electrolytic treatment and the method for manufacturing the same.
