PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily release locking of a movable blade generated due to paper jamming and continuously and quickly return the working of a printer. SOLUTION: A cover 20 for closing a paper storing part 12 is freely openably/closably on a printer main body 10 having the paper storing part 12, and a fixed blade 14 and a movable blade 42 are fitted on the printer main body 10 and the cover 20, respectively. Driving force of a movable blade driving motor 60 provided on the printer main body 10 is transmitted to the movable blade 42 via a driving force transmission means provided from the printer main body 10 to the cover 20. Paper S is cut in cooperation with the fixed blade 14 by reciprocating the movable blade 42. A return spring 46 for always returning the movable blade 42 to a home position is provided. When the cover 20 is opened, a transmission path of the driving force transmission means is cut, and at the same time, the return spring 46 forcedly returns the movable blade 46 to the home position.
