PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable type mower for a levee designed to safely and readily cut grass growing on a slope of the high levee in spite of a relatively light weight and a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This portable mower is obtained by installing a cutting blade (10), a rotating shaft (45) to which the cutting blade (10) is attached and fixed, a prime mover (31) for rotating and driving the rotating shaft (45), a shield cover (11) for covering a part or all of the cutting blade (10) and an operating lever (50) connected to the shield cover (11). The prime mover (31) is loaded and held on the shield covercapable of slide on the ground surface.
