PURPOSE: A dust detecting method of filter of air conditioner is provided to give notice when to clean the filter by detecting rotation velocity of an indoor fan and comparing with normal velocity. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises an indoor fan driving step; a rotation velocity detecting step; and a cleaning time instructing step. The indoor fan driving step is to drive an indoor fan(5) discharging air, having passed a filter of an air conditioner and an evaporator, as a micro computer(1) outputs indoor fan driving signal to drive a motor(4). The rotation velocity detecting step is to detect current velocity of the indoor fan by pulse generated in the motor. The cleaning time instructing step is to compare current velocity of the indoor fan detected with normal velocity corresponding with state that no dust has been collected in the filter and give notice when to clean the filter.
