An adsorptive decomposition deodorizer comprises sepiolite having a catalyst component supported thereon. Foul smells or noxious gases may be purified by adsorbing on the deodorizer and periodically or nonperiodically heating the deodorizer to desorb therefrom and oxidatively decompose the adsorbed odor or noxious components. The catalyst component may be a metal selected from platinum group metals, Mn, Fe, Cu, Co, Ni, Ag and rare earth metals or an oxide or complex thereof. |
