PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling the color tone of a printer capable of controlling a gray balance and the color tone of a special color in a conventional system by inputting a color coordinates value (CIE-Lab) defined in the International Illumination Committee instead of the numeric value input of spectral reflectivity when there is no present color sample and calculating target spectral reflectivity from the value. SOLUTION: The method for controlling the color tone of a printer comprises the steps of inputting a color coordinates value (CIE-Lab) instead of the numeric value of spectral reflectivity, calculating target spectral reflectivity from the value, and controlling a gray balance and the color tone of a special color. The method further comprises the steps of providing a display unit for displaying data of an ink state, understanding how degree the color coincides at the stage of trial printing, and regulating an ink build-up amount. |
