PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing D-(3'-pyridyl)-alanine. SOLUTION: This method for producing D-(3'-pyridyl)-alanine, characterized by reacting D,L-(3'-pyridyl)-methylhydantoin with (D)-hydantoinase at a pH value of 6.0 to 11.0 at a temperature of 0 to 80 deg.C, followed by separating the biological catalyst, subjecting the produced N-carbamoyl-D-(3'-pyridyl)-alanine to an enzymatic reaction with a new carbamoylase or to a reaction with a mixed nitrite to obtain the (3'-pyridyl)-alanine.
