The invention relates to a protein complex consisting of an HIV envelope glycoprotein and CD4, which can be obtained using a method comprising the following steps: (a) mixing the envelope glycoprotein and the CD4 according to a mole ratio (moles of envelope glycoprotein monomer/moles of soluble CD4) of 1/0.2 to 1/2, in order to produce an envelope glycoprotein/CD4 complex; and (b) enzymatically deglycosylating the complex produced in step (a); and to the use of the inventive complex in vaccine against HIV.
