PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder recording a good image by suppressing vibration of a carriage at the time of scanning under lightweight when the residual quantity of ink is low thereby preventing the hitting position of ink from being shifted. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a carriage 201 which serially moves means for recording on a recording material by ejecting ink. Center of gravity of the carriage 201 is varied depending on the acceleration thereof.
