PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder having good operability which does not occupy a significant space under nonoperating state and in which optimal recording can be carried out for various recording media. SOLUTION: This recorder comprises a hand-feed tray 14 for mounting recording sheets S, means for supporting the recording sheet S such that it can be displaced between a mounting position and a retreating position mounting no recording sheet S shifted from the mounting position toward the recorder wherein the hand-feed tray 14 is displaced from the mounting position to the retreating position when recording is ended.
