PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer material that develops a color in the visible light range, when the polymer material is irradiated with ultraviolet lights on the surface, by irradiating the polymer material with a laser beam on its surface. SOLUTION: This high-molecular-weight material emits fluorescent light by irradiating the polymer surface with laser beams and changing the surface properties. When the polymer material is irradiated with laser beams on the surface, carboxyl groups and carbon-carbon unsaturated double bonds are formed on the faces exposed to the laser beams, further when irradiated with ultraviolet rays on the surface, the surface of the polymer irradiated with laser beams develops the color.
