MPEG TRANSPORT STREAM ENCODER AND METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: An MPEG transport stream encoder and a method thereof are provided to compose one PES(Packetized Elementary Stream) packet as one field and insert a PCR(Program Clock Reference) into one PES packet by one field unit to generate a TS(Transport Stream) packet. CONSTITUTION: A PES packet generator(10) generates a PES packet header by a field unit. The PES packet generator(10) inserts an elementary stream into the PES header and generates a PES packet. A control signal generator(12) generates a valid interval signal for indicating a valid interval of the PES header generated in the PES packet generator(10). A memory controller(14) generates a control signal for writing data in audio and video memories(16,18) and a control signal for generating a TS packet. A PCR generator(20) generates a signal for generating a PCR by a field reset signal. A flag generator(22) generates a signal for reading memories(16,18). A PSI(Program Specific Information) generator(24) generates a PSI packet from a frame reset by a frame unit. A CRC generator(26) adds a CRC with 32 bits to the PSI packet generated in the PSI generator(24). A TS generator(28) is synchronized to a TS header flag generated in the flag generating unit(22) for adding the TS header to data read from the video memory(16) and the audio memory(18) and generates a TS packet.
