PURPOSE: Disclosed is an oxidation catalyst for diesel engine, which is obtained by dipping CuO as cocatalyst on the cordierite honeycomb monolith being dipped with γ-Al2O3, TiO2, and Pd. This oxidation catalyst prevents sulfur contained in diesel oil from reacting with oxygen, thereby it restrains the formation of sulfate which is a main contaminant along with gas phase of hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide, particulate matters such as soot and soluble organic fraction. CONSTITUTION: According to one embodiment of this invention, this oxidation catalyst is prepared by dipping γ-Al2O3 and TiO2 on the cordierite honeycomb monolith after wet-pulverization process of γ-Al2O3/TiO2; drying for 3 hours at about 150deg.C, followed by calcining for 3 hours at about 500deg.C; dipping the cordierite honeycomb monolith being dipped with γ-Al2O3/TiO2 in PdCl2 solution; drying for 3 hours at about 150deg.C, followed by calcining 3 hours at about 500deg.C; dipping prepared cordierite honeycomb monolith in Cu(NO3)3·3H2O solution; and then drying for 3 hours at about 150deg.C, followed by calcining for 3 hours at about 500deg.C.
