PURPOSE: A method for controlling a multi-port in a multi-port controller is provided to make the unlocked use among multi-ports possible and to delay management of data and to improve efficiency of the operation of a system. CONSTITUTION: In a method for controlling a multi-port in a multi-port controller, a few stages are included. In the first stage(S1), a pipe between a port controller and a serve process is set up. In the second stage(S2), the data are received from the work station. In the third stage(S3), it is searched if there is any error in a hardware. In the fourth stage(S4), a port table is searched and in the fifth stage(S5), it is judged if the port table is on use. In the sixth stage(S6), a next port is searched if the current port is on use. In the seventh stage(S7), a port, which is not used, is found. In the eighth stage(S8), the environmental variable is stored. In the ninth stage(S9), the data are written on the multi-port. In the tenth stage(S10), it is judged if the time delay is generated. In the eleventh stage(S11), the information of the used port is written on the second pipe if the result is output in time and the signal is sent to the port controller. In the twelfth stage(S12), the output result of an in/output device is sent to the work station and the serve process ends. In the thirteenth stage(S13), the environmental variable is restored if the output of the in/output device is not carried out in time. In the fourteenth stage(S14), the information of the used port is written on the second pipe and the signal is sent to the port controller. In the fifteenth stage(S15), the output result of the in/output device is sent to the work station and the serve process ends.
