PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling rings in an exchange according as the unique number of subscriber is provided to easily distinguish a particular person according to the kind of ring by assigning an unique number to each person and sending out the different ring for each unique number when several persons share one telephone number. CONSTITUTION: A subscriber matching module(10) sends a sharing telephone number and unique number of a receiving terminal(B-1, B-2, B-3) dialed from an originating terminal(A) to a controlling part(20). A subscriber telephone number interpreting part(30) interprets the above sharing telephone number and unique number, and sends the interpreted numbers to controlling part(20). A controlling part(20) sends the sharing telephone number and unique number of a receiving terminal(B-1,B-2,B-3) provided from an originating terminal(A) to the subscriber telephone number interpreting part(30), requests a subscriber matching module(50) to connect a call for the interpreted sharing telephone number, and requests a ring generating part(40) to generate a ring corresponding to the interpreted unique number. A ring generating part(40) generates a different ring for each unique number. A subscriber matching module(50) is connected to the receiving terminals, and then send out the ring generated from the ring generating part(40) to the receiving terminals.
