CONSTITUTION: In a device and a method for symbol synchronization in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signal receiver, a weighting intersecting correlation portion(302), a formality portion(306), a peak value detecting portion(308) and a symbol clock generator(310) etc. are included. The weighting intersecting correlation portion(302) calculates the intersecting correlation value of the digital signal and the reference signal line, and gives weighting to the intersecting correlation value. The formality portion(306) formalizes the weighted intersecting correlation value as the average power of the digital signal. The peak value detecting portion(308) detects the time, on which the output value of the formality portion(306) displays the peak value. The symbol clock generator(310) generates the symbol clock according to the time of the detected peak value and outputs it to the start point of the fast fourier transform(FFT).
