PURPOSE: An electron gun in a cathode ray tube is provided to improve a focus characteristic by changing an auxiliary electrode shape from a small aperture type to a large aperture. CONSTITUTION: An electrode(20) has electron independent electron beam penetration holes(21,22,23) of a small aperture so that three electron beams from a cathode are penetrated. The electron beam penetration holes(21,22,23) have an in-line shape on a common plane. A large aperture and thick metal(LAT) electrode as an auxiliary electrode(24) with an electron beam penetration hole(25) of a large aperture is prepared on a front surface of the electrode(20). A main body(24a) is formed along an edge of the electron beam penetration hole(25).
