PURPOSE: An arc extinguishing apparatus for ring main unit is provided to smoothly perform injection, opening and grounding operation by interlocking a small capacity vacuum interrupter and a blade electrode, while reducing cost for the vacuum interrupter. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a vacuum interrupter(2) mounted within an outer box(1) sealed with an insulating SF6 gas and which performs an arc extinguishing operation upon opening of the arc extinguishing unit; an insulating housing(3) mounted to support the vacuum interrupter; a blade electrode(9) mounted onto the vacuum interrupter and which operates to be interlocked with an operating electrode of the vacuum interrupter. The blade electrode includes a guide member(13) having a guide slot(12) to be coupled with an operating pin so as to guide the movement of the operating electrode by moving in vertical direction the operating pin of an operation support of the vacuum interrupter; a blade(14) hinge-coupled to the guide member and which cooperates with a fixed terminal(6) of a main circuit bus(5) so as to form an electrified structure; and an interlocking pin(15) hinge-coupled to the blade and which is interlocked with a spring electrode(7) so as to sequentially operate the operating electrode and the blade.
