PURPOSE: A device for testing a jumper receptacle of a railway vehicle and a method for testing are provided to carry out management of each jumper receptacle by judging that there is an error or not, with comparing the voltage/current waveform data with the contacting pressure data. CONSTITUTION: In a device for testing a jumper receptacle of a railway vehicle and a method for testing, a plug(8) for testing, a signal amplifying portion(32), a signal converting portion(36), a key input portion(38), a power converting portion(18), a screen output driving portion(40), a data storing portion(42) and a controlling portion(44) are included. The signal is permitted from a contacting unit by the plug(8) for testing. The signal amplifying portion(32) amplifies the signal permitted from the plug(8) for testing. The signal converting portion(36) converts the permitted signal into the signal of the appropriate the waveform. The key input portion(38) carries out operating of a key. The power converting portion(18) converts the battery(B+) power into the power appropriate to each device. The screen output driving portion(40) drives the monitor for outputting the signal wave type. The data storing portion(42) stores the measures data of each contacting unit according to the signal error. The controlling portion(44) compares the signal waveform permitted form each contacting unit with the normal signal waveform gained from the data storing portion(42) in the condition of connecting the plug(8) for testing.
