A detergent composition which dispenses and dissolves well in aqueous solution and having good storage stability comprises a reactive particle which preferably comprises first and second reactants which are respectively, acid and alkali-sources and which release gas on contact with water, in which the particle number ratio of the first reactant to the second reactant (that is the ratio of number of particles of the first reactant to the second reactant) in the reactive particle is at least 50:1.
