NOVEL STRAIN DECOMPOSING ANILINE AND ITS DERIVATIVES, AND BIOLOGICAL DECOMPOSING METHOD USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Provided are Stenotrophomonas maltophilia A-2 (KCTC 0659 BP) and 51-4 (KCTC 0658 BP) which biologically decompose aniline and its derivatives contaminating soil, underground water, stream, pond or waste water. CONSTITUTION: Stenotrophomonas maltophilia A-2 (KCTC 0659 BP) or 51-4 (KCTC 0658 BP) is obtained by the following steps of: i) cultivating water sample from a stream at minimum medium containing aniline at 30 deg.C at 200rpm for seven days; ii) checking if aniline is decomposed on the medium; iii) inoculating the broth into PTYG agar plate containing 300μg/ml of aniline and separating purely colonies; and iv) cultivating the colonies in broth containing aniline. The two strains purified here are all gram-negative. And the bacteria decompose aniline between pH 5.0-9.0, preferably pH 6.0-8.0, most preferably pH 7.0.
