摘要 PURPOSE: A backlight of a liquid crystal display with high brightness and thin thickness is provided to allow the part of light passing a partial reflective plate to transmit and the rest reflected by the partial reflective plate to pass a light guide panel by using a fluorescent lamp inside the light guide panel and the partial reflective plate in front of the fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION: The path of light emitted from a fluorescent lamp(1) comprises the three paths. Firstly, the light is incident into a light guide pipe(8). Secondly, the light reflected by a reflector or a partial reflective plate is incident into the light guide pipe(8). Thirdly, the light transmitting the partial reflective plate is incident into the light guide pipe(8). The light to be incident largely than critical angle on the basis of the light guide pipe(8) surface between the first and the second lights is reflected totally. The light to be incident narrower than critical angle passes through the light guide panel(8) and is transmitted towards the reflective plate, then is incident towards the light guide panel(8) again or is incident towards a liquid crystal panel via a total diffusion plate(6). The third light transmits the light guide panel(8) as it is and passes through the total diffusion plate(6). Therefore, it is possible to improve the uniformity of brightness of a backlight by controlling the intensity of radiation of the sum of the first and the second lights, and the third light.
