PURPOSE: An apparatus for duplexing optical input/output modules of an ADSL DSLAM(Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) system is provided to duplex the optical input/output modules, to supply a service to subscribers by using the other line, when a failure is generated in one line. CONSTITUTION: The first and the second optical transceiver(20,21) receive optical signals relating to ATM cells transmitted through optical cables from an ATM exchange, and convert the optical signals into electrical signals, then output the electrical signals as serial data. The first and the second optical transceiver(20,21) output detection signals, depending on whether the optical signals are received, and convert subscriber data inputted through a UNI(User Network Interface)(27) into optical signals, then transmit the optical signals to the ATM exchange. The first switch(22) outputs one of serial data outputted from the first and the second optical transceiver(20,21), relating to the ATM cells to the UNI(27) according to a selection output control signal. The second switch(23) selectively outputs subscriber data supplied from the UNI(27) to the first and the second optical transceiver(20,21), according to a selection output control signal. A controller(26) decides whether the first and the second optical transceiver(20,21) are normally operated, according to the detection signals, and supplies the selection output control signals to the first and the second switch(22,23).
