APPARATUS FOR DETECTING OPEN/CLOSE STATE OF COVER OF PORTABLE TERMINAL

PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting an open/close state of the cover of a portable terminal is provided to achieve the compaction of portable terminals by eliminating the necessity of reserving space to install a cover open/close state detection device in a terminal body. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal(1) is provided with a cover open/close state detection unit installed in a hinge part(200) connecting a terminal body(2a) and a cover(2b). The cover open/close state detection unit consists of a hinge(4), a rotation axis(4a), a conductive member and a finger. The hinge(4) is installed in the inner side of the hinge part(200) so as to be rotated. The rotation axis(4a) installed in one end of the hinge(4) is rotated together with the cover(2b) in proportion to an open/close extent of the cover(2b) when the cover(2b) is rotated. The conductive member forms a required angle on the inner surface of the hinge part(200) along its circumferential direction. The finger(5) installed in the rotation axis(4a) is formed of a member having elasticity so as to be contacted with the conductive member. An electrical wire(7) installed so as to connect the conductive member(40) and a circuit substrate helps to detect an open/close extent of the cover(2b).
