PURPOSE: A picture display device is provided to make electron beams reach an entire surface of a screen efficiently by controlling the electron beams easily. CONSTITUTION: An electron emitting source(41) generates electrons forming an electron beam directed to a conduction plate(45), which has a plurality of holes with a predetermined pattern. A selection electrode(43) for selecting the electron beam from the electron emitting source(41) is arranged on the holes. A modulation electrode(51) is formed between the selection electrode(43) and the conduction plate(45) so that the modulation electrode(51) is intersected with the selection electrode(43). A deflecting electrode(47) for deflecting the electron beam is formed on one surface directed to an anode plate(49) and has a plurality of holes(55a) corresponding to the holes of the selection electrode(43). The node plate(49) is formed by making R, G and B luminescent substances have a predetermined pattern such as a stripe.
