PURPOSE: The portable reading terminal is provided to enable a user to read a book without a complicate process such as a download by storing contents of the book as a portable document format in a floppy disk, and by turning the pages of the book using a function key. CONSTITUTION: A mode setting unit(10) is installed in a predetermined part of a portable reading terminal, and divided into a manual mode and an automatic mode. A key input unit(12) is equipped with a ten key, a storage button and a stop button. A time check unit(14) provides a predetermined time check data to a one chip microcomputer(16). The microcomputer(16) controls a manual or an automatic operation based on a signal inputted from the unit(10), the input unit(12) and the indication unit(14). A page UP/DOWN circuit unit(30) turns the pages under the control of the microcomputer(16). A page storage unit(26) stores the pages under the control of the microcomputer(16). A page memory unit(18) memorizes data in the manual mode. A page regeneration unit(20) regenerates and processes the data stored in the page memory unit(18). An indication unit(24) displays the pages stored in the page memory unit(18). A PAUSE circuit unit(28) pauses contents displayed on a screen under the control of the microcomputer(16).
