PURPOSE: An information providing system is provided to offer information on the objects or the characters appearing in a moving picture of a TV broadcasting or a film based on the frame number and the coordinate values input by the user. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a storage media, a regenerator, a database, and a coordinate value input module. The storage media stores the frames of the moving picture. The regenerator plays the moving picture stored in the storage media. The database includes information on the objects or the characters appearing in a moving picture, frame numbers of the images with the objects or the characters, and coordinate values corresponding to the positions of the objects or the characters within the frame. The user inputs the coordinate values on the objects or the characters, then the regenerator searches for the coordinate values from the database, and displays the informations on the objects or the characters.
