PURPOSE: An inlet port structure for rotary compressor is provided to reduce suction noise of the compressor and increase the volume of the refrigerant flowing into the cylinder by forming a penetration hole at upper and lower surfaces of the cylinder and allowing the refrigerant gas to flow through the penetration hole. CONSTITUTION: A rotary compressor comprises a motor unit mounted in the inner upper portion of a closed container; a cylinder(120) mounted in the inner lower portion of the closed container and which performs refrigerant gas compression by the driving force transferred from the motor unit; a crank shaft inserted into the center of the cylinder and which is coupled to the motor unit; a main bearing(150a) and an auxiliary bearing(150b) which are mounted onto and beneath the cylinder, respectively, so as to allow the crank shaft to smoothly rotate; and a noise reduction unit arranged at a refrigerant inlet port(120a) of the cylinder. The noise reduction unit includes a penetrating hole(100) formed to be communicated to the refrigerant inlet port at the cylinder wall and which serves to reduce noise while the refrigerant gas passes through the penetrating hole.
