PURPOSE: A device for controlling the power source of a dry battery used electronic appliance and a method for controlling the power source are provided to prevent the stopping of an electronic appliance due to the discharging of the dry battery by interrupting a block which provides an additional function when the output voltage of the battery is dropped. CONSTITUTION: The device for controlling the power source of a dry battery used electronic appliance comprises a camera(101), an image signal processing section(102), a voice signal processing section(103), a display section(104), a controlling section(105), a memory(106), a modem(107), a dry battery(108), and a voltage comparing section(109). If a connection with a channel to be communicated is accomplished through the modem(107), an image signal is compressed by the image signal processing section(102). A voice signal is compressed by the voice signal processing section(103), and is encoded to be transferred to the modem(107). After the image and voice data are modulated through the modem(107), the data are transmitted to a terminal through a transmitting channel.
