PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of preventing a shock to a driver and a sudden lowering of cooling capability when the engine power load is reduced. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for a vehicle having a variable displacement compressor is characterized in that when at least one of the engine rotating speed or the engine water temperature exceeds a predetermined reference engine rotating speed or reference engine water temperature, the displacement of the compressor is decreased.
