PURPOSE: A cylinder assembly of a hermetic rotary compressor is provided to improve suction port so that refrigerant flowing into a suction chamber of a cylinder flows in the direction not interrupting rotation of a rotor. CONSTITUTION: A cylinder assembly of a hermetic rotary compressor includes an upper flange with a discharge outlet, to support an eccentric shaft(21) of a motor; a discharge valve to open and shut the discharge outlet; a lower flange separated from the upper flange, to support the eccentric shaft; a cylinder(33) installed between the upper and lower flanges, having a vane slot(33a) and a suction port(33d) to suck in the refrigerant; a rotor(34) inserted around the eccentric shaft passing through the upper and lower flanges and cylinder, revolving along the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder; a vane(35) installed at the vane slot of the cylinder, to divide the inner space of the cylinder together with the rotor into a suction chamber(33b) and a compression chamber(33c); and a spring(36) elastically supporting the vane to the rotor. The refrigerant flowing into the suction chamber flows in the direction parallel to the tangential direction of revolution of the rotor. Therefore, consumption input required during starting is reduced and the starting capacity and efficiency are improved.
