PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antiviral substance having high infection prophylactic effects on viral infectious diseases and simply producible from a naturally occurring raw material at a low cost, to provide a method for extracting the antiviral substance, to obtain a formula feed thereof and to provide a method for the prophylaxis of the viral infectious diseases. SOLUTION: This antiviral substance consists essentially of a substance extracted from Eisenia bicyclis Setchell which is one species of seaweeds with an alcohol. Thereby, the antiviral substance having high infection prophylactic effects on the viral infectious diseases can simply be produced from the naturally occurring raw material at a low cost.
