PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair dye composition that keeps well balanced perfume and manifests excellent hair dying effect. SOLUTION: This hair dye composition comprises (A) a direct dye, (B) one or more kinds of the compounds represented by formulas (1)-(4): (in formula (1), R1 is H, methyl or methoxy; R2 is a single bond, methylene or ethylene; R3 is H, methyl, or ethyl; a is an integer of 0-10) (in formula (2), R4 is H, methyl or ethyl; R5 is a 14C alkyl; R6 is H or a 1-4C alkyl; b is an integer of 1-3) (in formula (3), R7 is a 1-18C alkyl) and (in formula (4), R8 is H, methyl or ethyl) and (C) a perfume composition including one or more kinds of perfume compounds selected from hydrocarbon terpenes, that bears an unsaturated non- aromatic ring having at least one of an aromatic ring or a double bond and has a vapor pressure of >=0.06 Pa, alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones and esters. In this hair-dyeing composition, well-balanced perfumed retained.
