PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent which is applied to the leaf surfaces of flowering plants, and has excellent effects for preventing the leaf scorches of lily and chrysanthemum and for preventing the withering of chrysanthemum, perennial Gypssphila elegans, delphinium and so on, just after cut into herbaceous cuttings. SOLUTION: This agent for applying to flowering plant leaf surfaces contains one or more kinds of fatty acids. The fatty acids are especially not limited, but are preferably >=8C fatty acids which are liquid at the ordinary temperature, such as oleic acid, because the fatty acids can easily be formulated. The form of the formulation is a formulation obtained by dissolving the fatty acid in an organic solvent or a formulation obtained by dispersing or dissolving the fatty acid in water. The agent may contain a nonionic surfactant to enhance adhesivity to the leaf surfaces.
