PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device in which the sheet hitching amount to separator pawls can be kept approximately constant regardless of dispersion of the dimension across the sheet width and stabilize the sheet feeding performance of the devide effectively. SOLUTION: The arrangement according to the present invention comprises a cassette 103 in which a plurality of sheets 111 can be stacked, a reference guide member 201a to restrict one-side edges of the sheets 111 as reference and guide them, a side guide 205 to restrict the other side edges of the sheets 111 as non-reference side and guide them, a forefront hold-down spring 206 to energize the non-reference side of the sheet 111 toward the reference guide member 201a, separator pawls A207 and B208 to be engaged with the sheet corners downstream in the transporting direction for separating the sheets one by one, and a feed roller 112e positioned upstream of the pawls about the transporting direction for feeding the sheets one by one from the uppermost one, wherein the pawl B208 on the non-reference side is offset toward the reference guide member 201a for making approximately constant the hitching amounts of the two pawls A207 and B208 to the sheet 111.
