The angle sensor has coding disk (33) fixed to rotate on a boss of a rotating contactor. The disk includes two rows of axial teeth (34) designed to move inside an optical fork (36-37,37-38) implanted on the circuit (20). The disk is driven by a rotation counter wheel (50), which has twelve radial teeth designed to cooperate with a part (44) on the upper face of the disk. The counting wheel supports a permanent magnet which is displaced in front of a Hall effect position sensor (46) on the circuit (20). The steering column top contains a switching assembly having a housing with a hole for mounting on the tube of the steering column (11). In the housing is a lighting switch (2) and a windscreen wiper switch (3) and also a steering wheel rotational angle sensor. The switches (2,3) are fitted with mobile contacts designed to cooperate with conducting tracks on a flexible circuit located in the housing. The circuit is electrically connected to a electronic card fitted in the housing.
