<p>Process for eliminating at least some impurities, such as polar components, from a liquid which is to be treated further, by (a) contacting the fluid with a vapor to obtain a purified fluid and a vapor charged with impurities, and (b) recycling at least part of the fluid for further treatment. An Independent claim is also included for the etherification of 3-8C hydrocarbons using the above process. Preferred features: Before stage (a), the vapor is generated by boiling. The fluid is introduced into a purification column in which the vapor is flowing in counter-current direction. The charged vapor is condensed and separated to produce an aqueous phase containing the impurities, a liquid phase containing hydrocarbons and a gas phase containing hydrocarbons and impurities. This last phase is sent on to an elimination stage. At least part of the aqueous phase is recycled as reflux in the contact stage, and at least part of this phase is purged. At least part of the purified fluid is used to heat the fluid to be purified. Stage (a) is operated at between 60 and 210 degrees C and between 0.02 and 2 MPa absolute. An acid or base is injected in stage (a) to keep a neutral pH. The fluid from (a) is sent to an additional treatment where it is contacted with a solid capable of retaining impurities.</p> |
