The cooling fan has an electronically-commutated electric motor with a rotor which drives the fan wheel, the electronic circuit for regulation of the motor power and/or revs contained in a housing (21) positioned radally on the outside of the fan wheel and provided with cooling ribs (25) projecting into the path of the cooling air stream provided by the latter. The free ends (27) of the cooling ribs are provided with air deflection elements for deflecting part of the cooling air stream axially along the cooling ribs.
